If you didn’t see our First Lady’s Inauguration looks on Monday, you had to be under a rock or either dead. If you were in fact dead, my apologies. Our FLOTUS truly delivered in American designer Thom Browne. The dress and coat were inspired by menswear, and was made from the same fabric as his ties. The boots were custom Reed Krakoff, and the belt was J. Crew. Thom Browne actually made a belt to match the coat, but obviously Michelle didn’t use it. It’s a testament to her true personal style–it’s all about mixing and matching designers both high and low.
The the Presidential Ball, Michelle once again chose Jason Wu. He’s a lucky motherfucker. She really put him on the map with the first number, but now he’s definitely a household name. I wasn’t totally in love with the gown, but it was truly a striking color on her. She’s so statuesque that she could pull most anything off.
…Our first lady can also pull off a bitchy eye roll and still look classy.
